That section is held on to the bottom section of the case with big plastic clips and the amp itself sits in the bottom section. I got out our cheap bathroom scale to check the weight and it was dead on 35lbs, just as advertised. The dimensions of the SoloAmp in its case are: Length: 43.5" Width: 7" Height: 14.5" | That's it!
